THE PROPERTY
Bedroom: King Bed / Living Room: Fold-down Sofa Bed
THE SPA AND BACK GARDEN: Upon arrival at Aquarius, you’ll probably want to head out to the large, private, fenced-in back garden, where you’re sure to spend a lot of time. At the back of the yard, the “cowboy” soaking tub & two shower heads are fed by the natural underground mineral springs for which Truth or Consequences is renowned, and it’s the perfect way to soothe your sore muscles after a long day exploring the area. With separate hot and cold faucets for both the showers & soaking tub, you can adjust the temperature to your liking as your mood & the weather changes. Sometimes it feels better to have a cool plunge (or long chill soak) than to sit in hot water when the summer heat is upon you--or even in the winter with the strong high desert sunshine. This recently updated home is located in what is officially known as the Hot Springs Historic District, but this particular water-well tapped into a cooler pocket of the aquifer, so every drop is natural mineral water—no city water added!
Unfiltered water is heated by an on-demand heater, unlike other soaking establishments where they have to cool down overly hot water with chemically-treated City water. Additionally, since it’s grandfathered-in to drain into the water treatment plant instead of the river, feel free to use bubble bath, shampoo, Epsom salts, spa crystals or anything you like in the tub or showers.
The water feels silky and buoyant around your body. A bit of wonderful natural silt sinks to the bottom of the tub; scoop some up and rub it over your skin (especially your feet) to enjoy a fabulous scrub experience during your many soaks; there are spas that charge high dollars for that! And if you’ve never had an au naturel shower, you’re in for a treat! There’s nothing quite like the feel of the breeze flowing over your body as you stand under a shower. With the front gate latched, you can rest assured of a true clothing optional experience. Use the all-cotton bathrobes hanging in the bedroom closet if the weather is chill. You’ll hear bird songs most of the day and might see some hummingbirds playing in the tree above you.
Since the “Water District” (as the locals call it) doesn't have a lot of street lights, you can enjoy viewing the multitude of stars in the night sky from the tub or several locations around the yard. This is truly such a restful getaway that the owner loves to use it whenever in town.
Moving forward toward the house on the wide paver walkway, you’ll find chairs and coffee table. A gas barbecue grill w/electronic ignition & propane provided is just steps away from both there and another seating area right outside the back garden door--where you might enjoy a glass of New Mexico chile wine or pecan beer while tending to the BBQ.
You can also enjoy the afternoon shade and serenity of the Adirondacks w/matching table on the” flow-art” concrete deck behind the palm tree. So many options!
THE BEDROOM: Moving into the peaceful bedroom via the screened garden door, you’ll luxuriate in the comfort of the Nectar King-size bed with added pillow-top and a “pillow menu”. Relaxing is easy with the electric fire place. The remote control with separate settings for heat or flame-only ambience means you won’t even have to get out of bed to turn it off! Put your clothes away in the vintage chest of drawers or use the folding suitcase stand or high-quality hangers. Two end tables, two lamps and a make-up table with two mirrors ensure you have everything you need to feel right at home. Behind the mirrored closet doors you’ll also find a washer & dryer, complete with detergent pods for sensitive skin & stain remover spray! The deep purple black-out drapes and Batik curtains continue on throughout the house.
THE BATHROOM: A nice-size tiled shower has combination stationary & hand-held shower heads. Refresh and rejuvenate under the rain shower; you’ll find separate shampoo and conditioner (no all-in-1’s) on a stand in the shower, along with shower gel. There will always be a good selection of lotions & creams for you to try and foaming soap at the sink, along with an assortment of bathroom linens in the cabinet so you don’t have to worry about doing laundry for several days, if at all.
THE KITCHEN: Traveling from the bedroom forward into the kitchen, you can enjoy a cup or two of coffee or tea made in the Keurig coffee maker. 6 K-cups are supplied to get you off to a good start even before you get to the grocery store. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes, silverware, utensils and pots & pans for cooking, baking, or making a smoothie. It even has most of the spices you might need for whipping up a meal. There's a sugar dispenser and a variety of tea bags, along with some ‘collected’ condiment packets you may use during your stay. Both plastic (for outdoors!) & glass wine glasses are tucked away in the cabinet. And of course there’s a full-size range, fridge, microwave & toaster! Even a stoneware dog water bowl! Two bar stools have padded backs and seats for comfort, and a third light-weight bar stool is provided for very easy mobility. Dine at either the purple table or the pass-through counter, where one can view the TV from the living room side—or maybe you want to enjoy a casual meal from the sofa in front of the 43” Samsung Smart TV in the living room! After all, it’s your vacation! Al fresco dining is made easy with two tables in the back garden area, and the two mint green trays in the living room can double as food or drink trays.
THE LIVING ROOM: You can get a blast from the past with a selection from the several dozen old DVDs in the colorful living room. The 43” Samsung Smart TV allows you to use your own Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime account to catch up on some binge watching. The sofa and comfy swivel rocker both have plenty of pillows for comfortable lounging, and the sofa converts into an extra-wide twin bed for that extra guest or naptime (sheets provided). The cabinet holds a ‘doggie blanket’, games, puzzles and more. Secure Wi-Fi throughout the property.
ADDITIONAL AMENITIES: A House Directory has a listing of the eclectic art by room (by the owner as well as local and Cali artists—some is for sale), as well as other info important to a stress-free stay, such as where the BBQ utensils, extra sheets or wine opener are located.
No worries about sharing a yard or a deck or anything else at Aquarius! You’ll have the entire space all to yourself and for complete privacy, slide the latch on the entry gate and close the living room drapes. You’re sure to find the new eco-friendly ductless mini-split air conditioning and heating system to your liking as well. These systems are known for quiet remote-controlled operation and of course, no dust or allergens are being pushed out through a duct system or dampness from an evaporative cooler either. Such luxury!
The owner of Aquarius was inspired by what she looks for in a private escape from the hustle and bustle of life and hopes you’ll agree she’s provided it. She encourages you to create your own art while chilling out on the “flow art” deck at Aquarius (more info in the Directory). We’re confident you’ll be able to relax and be ‘in the moment’ in this private art-filled oasis.
